Last week, there was a mega garage sale at my church; you could almost get lost there. In the hopes of clearing some space in my house, I donated some stuff, but of course, once there, I did not cower but checked everything out, and several items from other people’s donations found their way to my kitchen. I think I did pretty well, though, spending less than $20 CAD on a brand-name colander, beautiful handmade stoneware bowl, cookie press, quenelle ice cream scoop, stamp rolling pin, and a pan for six mini wreath cakes:

I am already planning some applications for all the items; the first two I have tried are the bowl, for mixing a batch of my banana and apple quick bread, and instead of pouring the batter into a large mould, I greased and sprinkled with sugar the mini wreath moulds, divided the batter amongst them, and baked at 350ºF. The amazing thing was that, because of the size and the empty circle in the middle, they baked in just half an hour!

The outside was crispy and golden brown, with a hole in the middle, like a donut, and the inside was perfectly cooked, but fluffy and crumbly, like a muffin:

I will for sure try other recipes, like coffee cakes, angel food cake, or even actual baked donuts.

It’s always fun to find things at a yard sale. Your breads look really good, so that baking pan was a great purchase! 🙂
