I would like to thank Sgeoil for nominating me for this challenge, it has been fun!
The rules are simple:
1 Thank the person who nominated you.
2 Share one of your favorite song/lyrics one at a time for three days.
3 Nominate three other bloggers each day.
For day three, another Mexican song, originally entitled “¿Quién será?” (“Who Will Be?”)by Luis Demetrio Traconis Molina and Pablo Beltrán Ruiz (1953), translated as “Sway” (“Vaivén”) with English lyrics by Norman Gimbel (1954). The original lyrics in Spanish are about someone wondering who a true love will be, whereas the English version is about a couple on the dancing floor; this was poetic license at its best! This bolero has an intriguing cadence, with elements of mambo, a symphony of harmonious notes that resonate both with the romantic setting of the bolero, and an open invitation to dance the mambo. Several memorable singers, such as Dean Martin, have performed this song over the decades, but I chose Michael Bublé’s version because it is more contemporary, he is Canadian, and well … because he is Michael Bublé! This is a YouTube video from one of his concerts in Argentina in 2008, in which he sang the beginning of the song in Spanish.
Sway (¿Quién será?)
When marimba rhythms start to play
Dance with me, make me sway
Like a lazy ocean hugs the shore
Hold me close, sway me more
Like a flower bending in the breeze
Bend with me, sway with ease
When we dance you have a way with me
Stay with me, sway with me
Other dancers may be on the floor
Dear, but my eyes will see only you
Only you have that magic technique
When we sway I go weak
I can hear the sounds of violins
Long before it begins
Make me thrill as only you know how
Sway me smooth, sway me now
Other dancers may be on the floor
Dear, but my eyes will see only you
Only you have that magic technique
When we sway I go weak
I can hear the sounds of violins
Long before it begins
Make me thrill as only you know how
Sway me smooth, sway me now
When marimba rhythms start to play
Dance with me, make me sway
Like a lazy ocean hugs the shore
Hold me close, sway me more
Like a flower bending in the breeze
Bend with me, sway with ease
When we dance you have a way with me
Stay with me, sway with me
When marimba rhythms start to play
Hold me close, make me sway
Like a lazy ocean hugs the shore
Hold me close, sway me more
Like a flower bending in the breeze
Bend with me, sway with ease
When we dance you have a way with me
Stay with me, sway with me
